Display is our product. We checked the Perplexity facts against the Perplexity Help Center and changelog on 16 October 2026. Perplexity changes its menus often, so check the labels in your own account. The Help Center now calls a thread a "session".
What Perplexity gives you to share
Export. The Help Center says that you can export the answer in a session as PDF, Markdown or DOCX. The Perplexity changelog of 27 March 2026 says that Computer writes in Markdown by default. You can also download that output as PDF or DOCX. Since June 2026, Deep Research runs inside Computer.
Share link. The Share button at the top right sets the session to Private or Anyone with the link. Private means that only you can see it. With the link, anyone can view it and send it on. A third option, Anyone in my org with the link, is only for Enterprise Pro subscribers. A person who opens a public session and asks a follow-up question starts a new session of their own. The question does not go into your session.
A share link shows the original session, not a fixed record of what you sent. It shows the whole session, not only the finished report.
Pages and websites. Perplexity has temporarily retired its Create page feature. Since July 2026, Computer can also publish a website. Perplexity says that you can show it to only you, specific people, your organization or everyone. If a website is the deliverable, read that option in the Perplexity changelog.
Keep the citations
A research report is only as good as its sources. Before you send anything:
- Open the export and click three citations. Each citation must go to the source that it names.
- Check that the file kept the links. Some guides say that some export formats lose citation links. We did not test every format.
- If a claim has no source, delete the claim or mark it as unchecked.
- Put the date of the research and the question you asked at the top of the report.
Markdown keeps links as plain text, and every tool can read it. That makes it the safest format to start from.
Options compared
| Option | Who can open it | Keeps links and citations | Updates | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Perplexity share link | Only you, anyone with the link, or your organization on Enterprise Pro | Yes, in Perplexity | Follow-up questions from viewers start their own session | Showing how you got the answer |
| PDF export | The people you send it to | Check the file | None | A report that must not change |
| DOCX export or Google Docs | The people you share with | Check the file | Edit the document | A report that people will edit |
| Markdown export | The people you send it to | Links stay as text | Edit the file | The source for any other route |
| Display | Public, company, or people invited by email | Yes. Markdown links show as links | Same URL. Paid plans keep versions | A report that your team reads, comments on and updates |
| Notion or Confluence page | People in that tool | Check the import | Edit the page | A report that lives in a wiki |
Publish the report to Display
Export the report as Markdown. Then ask your agent to publish report.md to Display for your company. For one outside reader, ask it to publish the file as Private and to share it with client@example.com.
Colleagues open a company artifact with a one-time password, or on Pro with Google or Microsoft. An invited outside reader enters a one-time password and creates no account. Outside readers can read the page. They cannot comment or edit it yet.
Members of your organization select text and leave a comment on the exact passage. An agent reads the comments through MCP, runs or edits the research again, and publishes the next version to the same URL. Tell the agent: "Update the page at the same link." A teammate can also select Edit and fix a line in the browser. Read How an agent reads review comments.
Limits
- Perplexity supports custom remote MCP connectors. We did not test the Display connector in Perplexity, so this page treats the export and the publish as separate steps.
- Display publishes one HTML or Markdown file at a time. Publishing a folder or a ZIP file is on the roadmap.
- Display does not check your sources. Check them before you publish.
- Display does not run the research again. Perplexity or your agent does that, and you publish the result.
- Free allows 3 gated artifacts. Viewers are unlimited on every plan.
FAQ
Can I export a Perplexity Deep Research report?
Yes. The Help Center says that you can export an answer as PDF, Markdown or DOCX. Deep Research now runs in Perplexity Computer, which writes in Markdown and lets you download PDF or DOCX.
Is a Perplexity share link private?
Only if you keep the session Private. With Anyone with the link, anyone who has the link can view the session and send it on. Sharing with your organization is only for Enterprise Pro.
Do citations stay in the export?
They can, but we did not test every format. Open the file and click three citations. Markdown keeps links as text.
How do I share a Perplexity report with my team so they can comment?
Publish the Markdown export to Display as a Company artifact. Members of your organization comment on the exact passage. Outside readers can read but cannot comment yet. Google Docs also has comments if your team already works there.
Can I update the report after I send it?
With a Display link, yes. Publish the new version to the same URL. You cannot update a PDF after you send it. Read One URL with a version history.
