Capture by Display – the Chrome extension
The website comment tool that publishes the page with your comments
Capture by Display is a Chrome extension. Select text on any web page and write a comment. Then publish a copy of the page with your comments to a Display link. Your team and your agent open the same link.
The demo shows an agent publishing a doc to display.dev – from a chat or a terminal – then a teammate opening its URL, selecting Edit, changing a number on the page and saving v2, a colleague commenting on v2, the agent publishing v3 at the same URL and resolving the comment, and the doc being shared with someone outside the company.
Cursor, Codex, Claude Code – any agent that writes a file. Switch agents anytime – your URLs, versions and comments stay put.
What does Capture by Display do?
Capture is a Chrome extension for website feedback. You open a page in desktop Chrome and select the Capture icon. You select text and write comments, or you add no comments. Capture then makes an HTML copy of the page as you see it and publishes the copy to Display. The comments stay next to the text that they are about.
You get one link. Your team opens it and replies to the comments. An agent can read the same page and the same comments through Display. Capture needs a Display account. The extension is free, and the copy counts toward your Display plan.
How it works
What the copy keeps
- The rendered page
- Capture copies the text, the layout, inline SVG and the styles that you see in Chrome. Text stays text, so readers can select it.
- Public images and stylesheets
- Capture asks Chrome for permission to read public image and stylesheet files from their sites. Then it puts them in the copy.
- Your comments
- Each comment becomes an ordinary Display comment on the published page. Your team can reply to it and resolve it.
- Your choice of access
- The copy is private by default. You can choose your company, the public, or specific email addresses before you publish.
Who can open the page
A Private copy opens for you and the people you invite by email. This is the default. An invited person outside your organization opens it with a one-time password.
A Company copy opens for the members of your Display organization after they sign in.
A Public copy opens for anyone, with no sign-in.
An Owner sets the limits. An Owner can restrict Public artifacts or outside sharing for the whole organization.
What teams use it for
- Design review of a staging site. Comment on the real page, not on a screenshot in a chat thread.
- Landing page feedback. Mark each line of copy that must change. The writer sees each comment next to its line.
- Competitor reviews. Keep a dated private copy of a competitor's page and comment on it as a team. Read how to review a competitor's landing page.
- Requests to an agent. Give your agent one link with the page and your instructions on it.

Limits
- Desktop Chrome only. Capture does not work in other browsers, on mobile or in incognito windows.
- A Display account is necessary. You sign in to publish. The Free plan has 3 gated artifacts. Private and Company copies count as gated artifacts.
- Comments are on text only. You cannot comment on an image or another element yet. One page takes up to 50 comments.
- The copy is inert. Scripts from the original page do not run in the copy.
- Some content does not copy. Private images behind a login, cross-origin frames, canvas pictures and protected video can be missing. Capture shows these gaps before you publish.
- Size limits apply. One copy can be up to 10MB on Free and 50MB on paid plans.
- Comments are local until you publish. If you reload or leave the page before you publish, Capture discards your comments.
- Outside guests cannot comment yet. An invited guest can view the copy. Guest comments are on the roadmap.
- The copy is not your source code. It shows how the page looked. Your agent makes the real change in your repository.
Privacy
Capture works only after you select it on a tab. It does not browse in the background, and it does not keep a history of the pages you visit. It does not send your cookies when it reads public images. Read the Capture privacy policy.
Display is the docs workspace for agents and people. Any agent publishes docs and files to a link. Your team opens the link with the account they already use. They comment and edit in-line. Any agent or teammate can publish the next version to the same link.

Common questions.
What is a website comment tool?
A website comment tool lets you write comments on a web page and share them with other people. Capture by Display does this in Chrome. It publishes a copy of the page with your comments to one link.
Can I comment on any website?
You can comment on most http and https pages in desktop Chrome. Capture does not work on Chrome settings pages, the Chrome Web Store, PDF files or local files.
Does Capture need a Display account?
Yes. You sign in to Display to publish. The extension is free. The published copy counts toward your Display plan.
Is the published page a screenshot?
No. It is an HTML copy of the rendered page. Text stays text and links stay links. Scripts from the original page do not run.
Can clients comment on the published page?
Not yet. An invited outside guest can view the page with a one-time password. Members of your Display organization can comment. Guest comments are on the roadmap.
Can my agent read the comments?
Yes. Give the link to an agent that uses Display through MCP or the Display skill. The agent reads the page and the comments, and it can reply to each comment.
Does Capture read my other tabs?
No. Capture reads a page only after you select the Capture icon on that tab.
Publish your first artifact in 15 seconds.
