How to Send an Interactive Report Instead of a PDF

Display is our product. We checked the Display facts against our own documentation on 16 October 2026.

TL;DR
Publish the report as an HTML page and send the link. Charts stay interactive and tables can sort. Next month's numbers replace this month's at the same URL, so the reader never opens an old attachment. Display (display.dev), the docs workspace for agents and people, publishes the HTML or Markdown file that your agent makes. A client outside your company opens it with a one-time password sent to their email. The client needs no account. Keep the PDF when the report must be signed, kept unchanged or printed.

Agent prompt for a monthly report

Connect Display to Cursor, Codex, Claude Code or any other agent. Then give this prompt once:

Build this month's client report from ./data/october.csv as one self-contained HTML file
with sortable tables and charts. Publish it to Display as private and share it with
anna@client.com. Give me the link.

Next month, give this prompt:

Rebuild the report from ./data/november.csv. Update the Display artifact named
"Client report" at the same URL. Do not create a new artifact. Give me the link.

The agent publishes a new version. Anna opens the same link and sees November.

To make the report on a schedule, read Claude Code routine for a weekly report.

Invite the reader

  • Tell the agent who gets the link: "Share the Client report page with bob@client.com."
  • The reader opens the link and enters a one-time password sent to that address. The reader needs no account.
  • To remove one person, tell the agent: "Remove bob@client.com from the Client report page."

Outside readers can view the report. They cannot comment yet. On Pro and Enterprise, an Owner can also restrict outside sharing for the whole organization.

Versions work as an archive

Each update is a version at the same URL. Free keeps the latest version only. Solo keeps 10 versions and Pro keeps 50. For a monthly report, Solo keeps the last ten months. If you must keep every report in the form you sent it, also save a PDF each month. The Versions list on the artifact page lets you open or download an earlier retained version. Read One URL with a version history.

Limits

  • Each file can be 10 MB on Free and 50 MB on paid plans.
  • Display publishes one HTML or Markdown file for each link. Put the images inside the file. Folder and ZIP publishing is on the roadmap.
  • Free allows 3 gated artifacts, which are company or private pages. Solo and Pro allow an unlimited number.
  • Links do not expire. You remove a person or change the audience when access must stop.
  • Links use a dsp.so address. Custom domains are on the roadmap.

When to keep the PDF

  • The report needs a signature or a legal record.
  • The reader prints it or reads it offline.
  • Your client's system accepts only attachments.
  • You need time per page. Use DocSend or Papermark for PDF decks.

FAQ

Will the client see the same report on a phone?+

The page is a normal web page. How it looks depends on the HTML. Ask the agent for a layout that works on a narrow screen.

Does the client need an account?+

No. The client enters the invited address and a one-time password.

Can I send a PDF and a link?+

Yes. Many teams link to the current report and keep the PDF as the record.

Can I see if they opened it?+

Solo shows view counts. Pro and Enterprise also show who viewed. Display sends no notification when someone first opens the link. Read How to know if someone opened your link.

Can the client comment on the report?+

Not yet. Invited people outside your organization can view only. Members of your organization can comment on the exact passage.

What does it cost?+

Free is €0. Solo is €15 a month. Pro is €49 a month. Viewers are unlimited on every plan. Read the pricing page.
