Private pages for clients, with no client account

A client opens your private page without an account.

Add the client's email address and send the link. The client enters a one-time password and reads the page. Nothing to install, no password to set.

The demo shows an agent publishing a doc to display.dev – from a chat or a terminal – then a teammate opening its URL, selecting Edit, changing a number on the page and saving v2, a colleague commenting on v2, the agent publishing v3 at the same URL and resolving the comment, and the doc being shared with someone outside the company.

Works with your agents

Cursor, Codex, Claude Code – any agent that writes a file. Switch agents anytime – your URLs, versions and comments stay put.

Can a client open a private page without creating an account?

Yes. Publish the page as Private in Display (display.dev), the docs workspace for agents and people. Add the client's email address and send the link. The client enters the one-time password (OTP) that Display sends to that address, and the page opens. The client does not create an account, set a password or install anything. Access belongs to each email address, so a forwarded link does not let anyone else in. Remove one address and that person loses access, while the others keep it. This works on every plan, including Free, with unlimited viewers.

What the client sees

01
Open the link
The client opens the link you sent. Display asks for an email address.
02
Enter the invited address
The client enters the address you invited. Display sends an OTP to that address. The OTP works for 10 minutes.
03
Enter the OTP
The client enters the OTP and the page opens. The browser stays signed in as that address for 24 hours.

When the address is not on the list

If the address is not on your invite list, Display sends no OTP. A visitor who is not invited cannot tell whether the page exists.

Why access by email address is safer than a shared passcode

A link is a credential that anyone can copy. A shared passcode is a second credential that anyone can copy. Both fail in the same three cases.

CaseShared passcode or "anyone with the link"Display: one invited email address for each person
The client forwards the link to a colleagueThe colleague opens the pageThe colleague gets no OTP. The page stays closed
A contact leaves the client's companyThe contact still has the passcode. You must change it for everyoneYou remove that one address. The others keep access
A person at the client you did not choose sees the linkAnyone with the passcode gets inOnly the addresses you invited get in

To let a colleague in, you add their address. That is one step, and you decide who is on the list.

What other tools ask of the client

We checked the documentation of each vendor on 16 October 2026. Vendors change these rules, so read the linked page before you rely on a row.

ToolWhat the client does before readingSource
DisplayEnters an invited email address and an OTP. No accountSharing and access
Google DriveRestricted files open only for people you add. "Anyone with the link" files open without sign-in for anyone who has the linkGoogle Drive sharing
NotionA guest who does not use Notion yet must sign up before the page opensNotion guests
SharePoint and OneDriveGuests sign in. "Anyone" links need no sign-in for anyone who has the linkMicrosoft Learn
StacktreeNo account. A passcode that all viewers share, or an email-link check against the client's whole email domainStacktree pricing

The Stacktree email-domain check proves that the viewer controls a mailbox at the client. It does not tell you which person at that domain opened the page. Display checks the exact address that you invited.

How to share a page with a client

In the dashboard
Publish the page. A page that you publish with your own login starts as Private. Open Share in the page header, add the client's email address, then copy the link and send it.
With an agent
Tell your agent: "Publish the report privately and share it with anna@client.com. Give me the link." Connect the agent from the Claude connector directory or with the MCP setup guide.
Updates keep the same link
When you publish a new version, the link does not change. The client opens the same link and sees the current version. You do not send a new file.

What the client can and cannot do

The client can open the page, read it, and see new versions at the same link.

The client cannot comment on the page or edit it yet. Comments from outside people are on the roadmap. They are not available now. Your team can comment on the page, and your agent can read and resolve those comments. If you need client feedback today, collect it by email or on a call.

Limits

  • Free plan. 3 Private or Company artifacts. Public artifacts do not count. Plans and limits has the full table.
  • No link expiry. An invited address keeps access until you remove it.
  • Your own company domain. Addresses on your company's email domain sign in as members, not as invited guests.
  • Organization setting. On Pro and Enterprise, an Owner can restrict Public artifacts or outside sharing for the whole organization. While that restriction is on, invited outside addresses cannot open pages.
  • Copies. Display cannot take back a file that a client saved. It also cannot clear a page from a browser cache.

When another tool is better

  • The client must send you something. Display has no file requests, forms, e-signatures or payments. Use a client portal or your practice software.
  • You need a passcode or a link that expires. Display has neither. A passcode host such as Stacktree has both.
  • The file is a plain document. The client can already work in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Then a shared Drive or SharePoint file can be enough.

Common questions.

Does my client need an account?+

No. The client enters an invited email address and an OTP. Display creates no account for them.

How long does the sign-in last?+

The OTP works for 10 minutes. After the client enters it, the browser stays signed in for 24 hours. After that, the client asks for a new OTP.

Can the client forward the link?+

Yes. The link opens only for invited addresses. A colleague who is not on the list cannot get in.

Can I remove one person?+

Yes. Remove that address in Share, or ask your agent to remove it. Other invited people keep access.

Can my client comment?+

Not yet. Clients can read. Comments from outside people are on the roadmap.

Does it cost more for each viewer?+

No. Viewers are free on every plan. There is no per-seat fee. Display costs €0 on Free, €15 a month on Solo and €49 a month on Pro. See pricing.

What if the client's address is on my company domain?+

Then the person signs in as a member of your organization, not as an invited guest.

Is this made for agencies?+

Agencies use it. See Display for agencies.

Publish your first artifact in 15 seconds.

Free tier. No credit card. One-time password auth on free, Google + Microsoft SSO on Pro (€49/month flat).
