# Add Display to Claude from the connector directory.

Open the Display listing in Claude's connector directory, select Connect, and sign in. Claude can then publish, update and share pages.

## How do I add Display to Claude?

Open claude.ai/directory/display, select Connect, and sign in. Claude's connector directory lists Display (display.dev), the docs workspace for agents and people. After you connect, Claude can publish artifacts, update them at the same URL, share them with your company and work through comments. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Display for the organization first, and each member then connects. Claude Desktop, Cowork and Claude Code use the same server. Colleagues open what Claude publishes with the email address they use at work. They do not need a Claude seat.

> **Info:** **Checked on 16 October 2026.** Menu names come from Anthropic's help article "Use connectors to extend Claude's capabilities". Anthropic changes these menus often. If a name is different on your screen, search Settings for "Connectors".

## Work together across Claude plans

Many developers and designers use a personal Pro or Max plan to get higher usage limits. The rest of the company is on Claude Team or Enterprise. In Claude, these are separate accounts, and each person you invite needs a Claude account. Enterprise turns off invitations outside the organization by default.

Display does not check the Claude plan. Everyone signs in to your company's Display organization with their work email.

| Person | Claude plan | What they do in Display |
| --------------- | ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Designer | Personal Max | Publishes a prototype from Claude Code and shares it with the company |
| Product manager | Company Team | Comments on the prototype and asks Claude to publish the next version at the same URL |
| Sales lead | Company Enterprise | Opens the link with a work email and edits a line on the page |
| Client | None | Opens the link with a one-time password after you invite them. A client can view the page but cannot comment or edit |

On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Display for the organization first. Claude Code connects with one command on any plan.

A Free account that prefers a custom connector can add one. Enter the name `Display.dev` and the URL `https://api.display.dev/v1/mcp`.

## Add Display on a personal account

**Open the listing.** Open [claude.ai/directory/display](https://claude.ai/directory/display).

**Connect.** Select **Connect**.

**Authorize.** On the Display screen, make sure that **Redirects to** shows `claude.ai`. Choose the organization, review the access, and select **Authorize Claude**.

**Turn it on in a conversation.** In a conversation, select **+**, then **Connectors**, and turn Display on. Ask Claude to list the Display tools without calling them. That checks the connection and publishes nothing.

---

## What to ask Claude

These requests cover most work.

```text
Publish this artifact to Display as a Company page and give me the link.
```

```text
Update the Display artifact "Q3 churn review" with the new numbers. Keep the same link.
```

```text
Share the Display artifact "Q4 proposal" with maria@client.example. Make it Private first.
```

```text
Find the Display artifact named Quarterly plan. Review its open comments, make the requested changes when they are clear, reply with what changed, and resolve only the comments you addressed. List anything that needs my decision.
```

```text
List my Display artifacts from this week and tell me who can open each one.
```

Set the visibility in the prompt. A publish from a signed-in person is Private unless you choose Company or Public. See [Sharing and access](/docs/visibility).

## Edit any document in-line.

Fix any line right where you read it.

1. Select Edit on the page
2. Change it on the page
3. Save – the next version at the same URL

---

## What the Community label means

Claude shows a **Community** label on the Display listing. In Display's own docs, the label means that Anthropic screens directory connectors but did not review this one in depth. Anthropic's connector article does not define the label, so read the text next to it in your directory. Display does not claim an official or verified status. The authorization screen shows the access that Display asks for. Read it before you select Authorize Claude.

You can revoke access at any time under Connected apps in Display. Revocation takes effect immediately.

## Cowork and staged file transfers

Cowork is a mode inside Claude, and it needs a paid Claude plan. Add Display from the directory, then turn it on in the task with **+**, then **Connectors**.

- **Small pages.** Claude writes the HTML in the task and sends it through the connector. This works on every paid plan.
- **Large existing files.** Cowork uses a staged file transfer. It calls `create_upload`, sends the file bytes to `api.display.dev`, then calls `publish`. The temporary transfer expires after 15 minutes. The limit is 10MB per artifact on Free and 50MB on Solo, Pro and Enterprise.
- **Team and Enterprise.** An Owner must add `api.display.dev` under Organization settings, Capabilities, Code execution, Additional allowed domains. Then start a new Cowork task.
- **Pro and Max.** You cannot add that domain. Cowork can publish smaller files inline. For a large file, download it and publish it from the [Display dashboard](https://app.display.dev).

If Claude offers to install a skill or the CLI in Cowork, decline. Connect the connector again and start a new task.

---

## When another route is better

- **All your readers have Claude seats.** Claude's own sharing is simpler. See [How to share a Claude artifact privately](/share-claude-artifact).
- **You work in a terminal and want no connector.** Ask your terminal agent to publish the file to Display. See [Publish from your terminal](/docs/publish-from-terminal).
- **You need a passcode or an expiry date on a link.** Use Stacktree. Display has neither today. See the [Stacktree comparison](/stacktree-alternative).

## FAQ

**Is Display in Claude's connector directory?**

Yes. The directory lists it as Display at claude.ai/directory/display, with a Community label.

**Do I need to type a URL?**

No. Add Display from the directory. You need the URL only for a custom connector or for Claude Code.

**Do my colleagues need a Claude seat to open what Claude publishes?**

No. They open the link and sign in with their company email address. Every plan supports the email one-time password. Pro adds Google and Microsoft sign-in.

**Can people on different Claude plans work on the same artifact?**

Yes. Display does not check the Claude plan. A designer on a personal Max plan and a product manager on your company's Team or Enterprise plan sign in to the same Display organization. Both can comment on and edit Company artifacts. Either person's Claude can publish the next version at the same URL.

**Who can add Display on Team and Enterprise?**

An Owner or Primary Owner. Members connect after that. A member without permission to add connectors can send a request.

**Why does Claude say "Couldn't reach MCP server"?**

Display is probably off for the conversation. Select **+**, then **Connectors**, and turn it on. For a connector that you added by URL, make sure that the URL is `https://api.display.dev/v1/mcp`.

**A tool call returns 401. What do I do?**

Open Customize, then Connectors. Disconnect Display, then connect it again.

**Can Claude Code use the same server?**

Yes. Use the command in the table above. Then ask Claude Code to install the Display skill.

**Can I publish without an account first?**

Yes. The public endpoint `https://api.display.dev/v1/public/mcp` has only the `publish` tool. It returns a public preview URL that stays for 30 days, and a claim URL. See [Publish without an account](/docs/claimable).

**What happens to my pages if I disconnect Display?**

Nothing. The pages stay at their URLs. Claude can no longer publish or update them.
